If you’ve fallen in love with his performance in Baby Driver, this is obviously good news for you.

Hot off of musical heist caper Baby Driver, Ansel Elgort has already lined up his next project. The actor and EDM artist will be starring as a young mid-twenties John F. Kennedy in a movie about the former president’s bravery in the South Pacific during World War II.

Samuel Franco and Evan Kilgore have written the script, which will follow the real-life exploits of the future American President when he was the Naval captain of a PT (Patrol Torpedo) boat that was attacked and sunk by a convoy of Japanese destroyers during World War II. He then became a key figure in one of the most dramatic rescues in high seas history.

This is not the first time the story has been made into a film. Back in 1963, P.T. 109 was released by Warner Bros. and starred Cliff Robertson. Kennedy was still in office at the time. In 1943, Kennedy commanded the PT 109 in the South Pacific when it was attacked by a Japanese destroyer Amagin. Two men were killed and the allies believed all hands were lost. Kennedy lead the survivors to a deserted island where they had to evade passing Japanese ships. Kennedy’s heroics gathering food and help, leading the men to an island that could support them until they were found, were notable.

Elgort broke out in “The Fault in Our Stars” and is the lead actor in Sony’s “Baby Driver,” which opens Wednesday. In addition to starring, Elgort will produce alongside Basil Iwanyk, Beau Flynn, and Emily Gerson Saines. A director has yet to be named.

“We could not be more excited about Ansel coming aboard,” Iwanyk told Deadline Hollywood, which first reported the news. “Not only is he a tremendous actor, he embodies the charisma, athleticism and looks of a young JFK.”
